Katara — The Cultural Village Foundation opened on Monday in building 18 the photo gallery “Below Zero” that features the journey of professional Qatari photographer Ali Saifaldine in the Arctic region.
Organised by the Youth Hobby Centre (YHC), the opening of the gallery was attended by Katara HR manager Saif al-Dosary along with a number of photographers and enthusiasts.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, YHC’s photography section head Abdelaziz al-Kubaisi said each photograph in the gallery has a story behind it and that Saifaldine is the first Qatari photographer to reach the Arctic region in a long trip full of adventures to snap these valuable photos.
The gallery features 45 photographs all taken by Saifaldine at the North Pole where he spent around 10 days. Saifaldine’s trip started from Doha to Norway to Svalbard Island, from where he then sailed in a ship to the North Pole where he began his actual trip. A mechanical engineer, Saifaldine started photography as a hobby when he was studying in Australia more than 15 years ago and later transformed it into a professional career.
