Msheireb Properties (MP) held the seventh edition of its Annual Risk Management Forum yesterday at Bin Jelmood House, part of Msheireb Museums in Msheireb Downtown Doha.
Attended by dignitaries, entrepreneurs and experts from prominent Qatari companies, the 2019 edition took place under the theme ‘Managing risk in the information age’.
This year’s forum explored the role practitioners play in managing new and emerging risks, and opportunities presented in today’s information age. The discussions shed light on other key points, including cyber-risk, social media risk, and the risk presented by disruptive new technologies.
Msheireb Properties Acting CEO Ali al-Kuwari said, “When it comes to risk management, the best cure is prevention and comprehensive planning. As Qatar moves towards a knowledge-based society, it is important to understand the risks different industry sectors might face.
“This knowledge is crucial for risk management teams to plan, set preventive procedural policies, and make decisions. That’s why, it is important to have a robust platform that brings industry experts together to share their expertise and discuss best practices.”
“Over the past seven years, our Risk Management Forum has spearheaded the discourse on the subject, making it the premier regional conference. It also reflects our commitment to collaboration, knowledge-sharing and partnerships as the right vehicles to achieve our mission, and to lead by example,” noted Mohamed al-Buainain, acting chief officer (Design & Delivery) during his risk forum speech.
The forum featured Simon Horst, business risk manager – Capricorn Investment; Dana Yousif al-Abdullah, cyber resilience manager (QCert); and Darshan Mehta, managing director, Potoviti Middle East.
