Ooredoo has launched a new Internet of Things (IoT) platform, IoT Builder, to drive innovations in smart nationwide transformation.
The IoT Builder solution, running on Software AG’s Cumulocity IoT platform, enables Ooredooo to develop applications and to integrate connected devices for its business customers.
Cumulocity IoT is Software AG’s industry-leading open, independent, and telco-grade secure IoT platform.
The IoT solutions will be hosted in Ooredoo’s Qatar Data Centre, which provides “strict security and data sovereignty.”
Robust security is vital for the government and public sectors, Qatar’s Smart Cities ecosystem, and players in critical national infrastructure.
Ooredoo chief operating officer Yousuf Abdulla al-Kubaisi said, “IoT Builder combines integrated real-time data analytics visualisation, with scalable storage and device security, to drive new digital business. We’ve invested in developing this product because we understand that as Qatar’s organisations enter the Internet of Things era, they need scalable IT infrastructure to meet their future business needs. We have the capabilities and experience to help businesses use IoT Builder to have full control over their IoT solutions.”
Ooredoo IoT Builder users can benefit from rapidly integrating machines, sensors, mobile devices, and data that Ooredoo integrates into one platform. Using IoT Builder, organisations can remotely control and manage devices — from tablets to robots.
The IoT Builder platform also provides real-time analytics on one visual dashboard, so that organisations can enhance how they monitor their assets, automate their supply chain, and predict maintenance.
David Milot, vice-president (Solutions for EMEA, Software AG) said, “In a region that is leading the way in development and innovation, having solutions in place to discover and amplify the value of data is of strategic importance. Cumulocity IoT provides the leading IoT platform covering the whole value proposition cycle — from data collection to device management, real-time analytics and API interaction with a growing ecosystem.
“This allows data to be deployed at the right time and in the right format to empower people, nations and businesses. It creates a pathway to smarter cities, safer societies, better energy efficiency, increased comfort and authentic innovation”.
Al-Kubaisi said, “IoT Builder is another important building block in Ooredoo Qatar’s commitment to providing our customers with the best of IoT innovations in partnership with Software AG. This launch further proves our commitment to the future of IoT in Qatar, from protecting critical national infrastructure, to enabling future government and Smart Cities.”
Business customers can leverage the Ooredoo Advantage, making Ooredoo “Best for Business”, thanks to its breadth and depth of talent, best fixed and mobile networks, broadest portfolio of ICT services and solutions, and trusted partner for 60 years.
