Aljazeera.com (Aljazeera English website) has been recognised by media watchdog NewsGuard as a reliable news website generally maintaining the journalistic standards of credibility, professionalism and transparency.

NewsGuard assessment shows that Aljazeera.com gathers and presents information responsibly and does not repeatedly publish false content, regularly corrects or clarifies errors - if existed - referring to that, and avoids deceptive headlines.

The media watchdog also refers to the transparency of Aljazeera English website as it discloses ownership and financing, clearly labels advertising and excluding them from news content, reveals who's in charge, including any possible conflicts of interest.

According to the media watchdog assessment, Aljazeera.com classification is like other well-known international websites as the website for the UK-based British Broadcasting Corp (BBC).

Aljazeera.com has been labeled green after being evaluated by NewsGuard, contrary to what some media outlets have suggested that the site does not comply with professional standards.

It is worth noting that NewsGuard Technologies was founded in 2018 by Steven Brill, the founder of monthly magazine The American Lawyer, and L Gordon Crovitz, the former publisher of The Wall Street Journal.

Washington-based NewsGuard labels news sources with either a green, indicating its general trustworthiness, like Aljazeera.com and BBC and others, or red icon for those sources with a history of running stories labeled as fake news.
