Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality yesterday opened Sharq Garden and Al Thakhira Walkway in Al Thakhira town.
The projects have been executed with support from the Ras Laffan Industrial City Community Outreach Programme (RLIC-COP) as part of an ongoing co-operation between the municipalities and community service programmes, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) said in a statement.
High-ranking officials from both the municipality and RLIC-COP attended the opening of the new facilities.
The park is spread over 4,841sq m, and equipped with an automated irrigation network to water the green space of 3,500sq m. Besides, flowers have been planted in three areas in addition to various types of plants and 16 sedr trees.
Inside the park, there is a walkway stretching for 320m and with a width of 2m. There are also parking lots on two sides of the park, the statement notes.
The Al Thakhira Walkway overlooks the beach, stretches for 1,800m and has a width of 3m. It also has a 2,000m cycling track.
Also installed there are 93 light columns that run on solar energy. Besides, there are 60 wooden seats along the walkway in addition to 1,250sq m kids’ play area.
