This is believed to be the first such grant for an educational institution in Qatar and the first-of-its-kind in the Mena region. Dr Sorcinelli is a senior fellow in the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Institute for Teaching Excellence and Faculty Development, and a renowned expert in teaching and learning.
As part of her visit, Dr Sorcinelli met with Tamuq faculty and CTL staff, as well as some faculty from other Education City partner universities. The focus is to develop high-impact initiatives and programmes that will resonate with faculty and teaching staff, which in turn will enhance student learning. Of particular interest are collaborations with other partner universities in Education City to provide cross-training and other educational opportunities that can collectively enhance the value of students’ degrees.
