Seasonal changes have a strong impact on our moods, attitudes, and as some experts would argue— even our physical well-being. Then there is the symbolic significance of seasons as well. If winter symbolises death, spring symbolises new life and rejuvenation. Trees, plants, fields turn green and then there is a significant increase in rainfall as well. Given that dynamic, if you have spent the last two months in Qatar, you would know that the one thing that has taken the country by a storm is the Spring fever. This fever itself is essentially a feeling of restlessness and excitement felt at the beginning of spring, and one sure shot reason everyone in the country felt it strongly was because of the frequent rainfall that just doesn’t seem to stop!
Apart from the rain and blooming vegetation, festivals and events surged as people marched outdoors to breathe fresh air in a pleasant weather.
For tourists and residents of Qatar, Souq Waqif is the go-to place to frequent whenever there is a change in season. Most recently, visitors of Souq Waqif were able to enjoy a series of events, including the African circus shows in the West Square, in addition to amazing performances for pedestrians during the on-going ‘April Festival’. The seven-day festival began on April 5 and you are encouraged to visit Souq if you haven’t already this week because it has something to offer for everyone— kids and adults alike.
