16th annual Qur’an contest held at Doha Academy

Doha Academy recently held the 16th Sheikh Faleh Bin Nasser Al Thani Annual Qur’an Competition as a part of its continued efforts to spread Islamic ethos and culture by encouraging its students and those of different schools of Qatar to preserve and memorise the Holy Qur’an.
The annual competition is held under the patronage of Sheikha Dr Aisha bint Faleh al-Thani, chairperson of Doha Academy, who supports Islamisation and customisation of foreign curricula delivered at international schools operating in Qatar, according to a statement.
This year’s competition witnessed remarkable progress at all levels in terms of competition with the participation of students and communities.
The jury was led by Sheikh Abdul Salam Hassan Qandil, Imam from the Ministry of Endowment and Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Yusri al-Saqqa and Maulana Kurch, a Qur’an reciter from Macedonia.
A total of 130 schools in Qatar including independent, community and international schools participated in the qualifying phase from which 86 contestants qualified for the final phase.
Sheikha Dr Aisha attended the final ceremony and congratulated all the contestants and winners as part of her commitment to spread Islamic values and culture.
