Naseem Al Rabeeh marks World Hand Hygiene Day

Naseem Al Rabeeh Medical Centre in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and World Health Organisation observed World Hand Hygiene Day 2019 at the Naseem Centre for Learning and Development at the C-Ring Road branch.Babu Shanavas, general manager, Naseem Health Care, delivered the welcome speech and MoPH representative Dhouha Ammar Hamdani (infection control observer, Health Care Quality Management and Patient Safety Department) inaugurated the event.She detailed various important aspects of hand hygiene and stressed how important it is in a health care facility. Dr Mohamed Kassim Harid, medical director, Naseem Al Rabeeh Medical Centre, presented a quality audit report with various aspects on quality and patient safety practice in the organisation.Dr Munir Ali Ibrahim, general manager, Naseem Al Rabeeh Medical Centre and Dr Nehla Sharaf (Infection Prevention and Control Team, MoPH) delivered keynote addresses.Both stressed the role of quality and patient safety practice in healthcare.Dr Ibrahim cited the recent Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation of Naseem Al Rabeeh as a best example of the organisation’s commitment towards quality and safety of patients.As part of the event, a poster competition was conducted for employees, inter-department and school students.Children from MES Indian School, DPS-MIS, Bhavan’s Public School, Shantinikethan Indian School and Bright Future International School participated.In the individual poster competition, Dr Sumpat Sunder (periodontics) was first, while Nisha Jacob (radiology) and Shamily Merin (nursing department) came second and third, respectively.In the inter-department category, reception was first and nursing and biomedical departments second and third, respectively.The results of the competition for school students will be announced soon.In a question and answer session for the audience, Maimoona Beevi, from radiology and Radikha from MES Indian School won special prizes for demonstrating and explaining steps on hand hygiene.Dr Mohamed Harid received a special appreciation memento for his commitment and contribution towards overall development of quality and patient safety.Dr Sumith Syriac (oral surgeon) and his assisting staff nurse Divvy Mol P S won the best practice hand hygiene champion award while Shemi Ashim and Prasanth K Dharman got a special appreciation for their valuable contribution towards best practice of hand hygiene.As part of the continuous quality improvement and CSR initiative — Naseem Al Rabeeh Medical Centre’s year-long hand wash campaign’s first project was unveiled and handed over by Dr Kassim Harid to Amir Ali and Krishna Kumar, managing directors of Radio Olive 106.3 and Radio Suno 91.7.Naseem Al Rabeeh’s corporate relation manager Arif and senior operation manager Riashad P K were also present.Nursing head Suja Mol, corporate relation officer Iqbal, infection control and hand hygiene co-ordinator Shemi Ashim and Asha Nair co-ordinated the event.
