The young and rising Bollywood singer enchanted music lovers of Doha with enthusiasm and melodious voice at the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena on Thursday night.Armaan Malik, a 23-year-old playback singer, entertained thousands of people at the Arena where people from all and sundry were present. Families, children and young people were present in large numbers. The youth danced and clapped with the music tunes and voice pitch of the singer. Armaan sang for over two hours and the majority of the audience kept still till the end of the show. The people seemed to really love the “The Prince of Romance” as the singer is famously called by his fans on social media. The musical event became very special for the singer. It was his first ever live concert in Qatar. The concert was the 100th event organised by Doha Waves, the group known for bringing Bollywood music to Doha. The most special thing about the performance was that it was organsied on the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Fitr.“I am super excited to be here for my first show. I wish you all a very happy Eid. It is also special for the organisers as they scored a century of their successful events in Qatar. I wish them every success in future,’ Armaan said when he stepped on the stage that sparkled under the colourful and beaming lights. Some of the famous songs that Armaan sung during the concert were; Bol Do Na Zara, Sab Tera, Main Hoon Hero Tera, Jab Tak et.c.The concert was started with a dance performance by a dance group of expatriate Indians. The dances on the tunes of famous Bollywood songs set the stage for the following singing performances. Two local Indian singers also sang before Armaan took over the stage. For some people in attendance, the musical show was like a puff of refreshing air in the hot summer evening in Doha. Others, however, believed that the performance got a moderate success as people expected more songs from Armaan in South Indian languages.Syed Rafi, a noted member of the Indian community, was impressed by the performance of the young artiste. He said: “I have attended various musical programmes in Qatar. There have been instances where even major and well established artistes have failed to impress by not actually interacting with the audience enough.“But with Armaan Malik, his interaction with audience was top-notch throughout, proving that there is an undeniable superstar charm and charisma in him. I think a new charismatic legend has born to conquer the hearts of the music lovers.“Overall, it is unbelievable to think that this was Armaan Malik’s first time performing in Doha. At the age of 23, he has become Bollywood’s sensational youngest singer to perform with such grace, a truly phenomenal achievement.”There are however, others who think the show could have been a lot better, if there had been more marketing and the singer had included more South Indian songs.Subramanya Hebbagelu, is an active Indian expatriate associated with benevolent works done under the umbrella of the Indian embassy. He attended the concert with his family. He said: “The performance was great in the sense that the majority of the people had not many expectations from the young singer who was coming for the first time to Doha. However, when we attended the concert it showed us that Armaan really is a good singer and is fast becoming a star.”He added: “The number of the audience was not as high as expected by the organisers. The numbers could have been much better, if there had been aggressive marketing. Many people in the community shared with me that there was not enough marketing for the concert. Further, we have learnt that the young singer had already sung songs in many South Indian languages. He, however, sang only songs in Malayalam. He should have sung more South Indian songs as the majority of Indian living in Qatar come from the southern states.”
