Jaidah Group has signed a strategic partnership with Havelsan, a business firm that develops sophisticated systems for domestic and foreign military bodies, public sector entities and private sector organisations.
Mohamed J Jaidah, group executive director, Jaidah Group together with Ahmet Hamdi Atalay, CEO of Havelsan recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a long-term partnership between the two companies that focuses on the provision of an extensive range of cyber security solutions and services in Qatar. Jaidah Group HE-Projects managing director, Altug Okay, Havelsan Qatar country manager Ozgur Aytan and senior executives from both organisations also participated in the MoU signing.
The move reflects Jaidah Group’s diversification in support of long-term growth and success. This also reflects Havelsan’s long-term vision for being an international systems integrator in defence, security and information technology through developing high performance, high quality, cost effective and reliable solutions.
The partnership will see both businesses provide a broad array of cyber security services and solutions in Qatar. It will initially involve Jaidah Group achieving certification and access to proprietary cyber-security platforms developed by Havelsan and the establishment of a cyber security centre in Qatar operated by Jaidah Group.
Havelsan was first launched in 1982 by the Turkish Armed Force Foundation for delivering software solutions to the Turkish Army. Its advanced and pioneering technologies encompass command control systems, training and simulations systems, as well as information management systems. It helps to design, plan and deliver critical infrastructure for a wide range of governmental defence organisations and private sector entities around the world.
Jaidah Group has long been known for its success in developing partnerships with strategically important businesses to further expand its existing, world-class portfolio. It is determined to give customers the widest possible range of options across all the key sectors of the economy where it is active.
Havelsan is the most significant e-government transformation organisation in Turkey and provides uninterrupted, secure and reliable services and solutions through the national cyber security systems. Havelsan also develops command and control and combat systems for the air and naval forces and develops land, naval and air platforms.
The MoU will enable Jaidah Group and Havelsan to engage with a growing number of businesses in the financial services, telecommunications sector and government entities. It also includes technology transfer from Havelsan to encourage cooperation with local universities in Qatar to localise Havelsan’s solutions for the country.
It comes at a time when Qatar is making increasing progress in investing in and launching advanced technologies and systems to tackle cybercrime. The Economic and Cyber Crimes Combating Department recently launched a variety of efforts to trace fake social media accounts and tackle cybercrime. In addition, Qatar has established ties with Interpol and Europol to ensure the systematic and effective prevention of cybercrimes.
“In Havelsan we have identified the ideal strategic partner to extend our footprint in the critically important field of cyber security. We’re seeing increasing demand amongst existing customers and more broadly in the marketplace for hardware and software solutions that provide such capability. We’re now ideally placed to support growing numbers of entities and organisations to minimise external threats, protect their assets and ensure the safety and security of their operations. We’re excited to see where this partnership will lead,”Jaidah added.
