The country has been witnessing a noticeable rise in temperature since Monday, increasing by about 3-5C above average, the Qatar Met department has said. These conditions are likely to continue Tuesday with the weather charts forecasting a maximum temperature of 47C in Al Wakrah and Mesaieed, followed closely by Doha at 46C and 44C in Al Khor. The southern and central parts of the country are expected to see particularly high mercury levels.
On Monday, a maximum of 46C was recorded in Abu Hamour, the Qatar University area and Mesaieed, while Doha, Turayna and Batna saw a high of 45C, and Sheehaniyah and Karana 44C. Tuesday’s forecast also says strong winds are expected in some places by the afternoon. Windy conditions have also been forecast offshore along with high seas in some areas.
The wind speed may go up to 25 knots inshore and 23 knots offshore, with the sea level rising to 7ft.
Besides a hot day, slight dust is expected in some places along with clouds. Fine conditions will prevail offshore and there could be some clouds at times.
