The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced a temporary closure of one lane in each direction on both Al Oyoun Street and Thani bin Jassim Street (known as Al Ittihad Street) in Al Gharrafa from July 1 for a period of three months.
The closure will be carried out in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, Ashghal has said in a statement.
During the closure period, one lane will remain open for traffic in each direction on both Al Oyoun Street and Thani bin Jassim Street. A new temporary turn has been constructed on Thani bin Jassim Street to allow road users to make a U-turn near the Souk area without having to reach the intersection with Al Gharrafa Street, as shown on the attached map.
The temporary closure is aimed at facilitating the construction of a new drainage system in this part of Al Gharrafa, the statement notes.
Ashghal will instal road signs advising road users to abide by the specified speed limit on the alternative routes and follow road signs to ensure their safety.
