FUN ACTIVITIES: This is the fourth consecutive year that QSports, a private company promoting different sports activities, has arranged summer camps in Qatar.
Summer camps can be one of the most exciting parts of the summer holidays for some children. Being in a summer camp is something that we come to miss the most as we grow older. Those few days or weeks, promise the memories that last a lifetime because summer camping is all about learning, making friends and having fun.In Qatar, summer is unique in the sense that it offers multiple choices for children to enjoy summer camps. As the kids here spend most of their time indoor during summer, the camps provide some activities in controlled environment that provide both fun and learning for the young children.QSports, a private company promoting different sports activities in Qatar, has been running two summer camps this season – one at Al Dana Club and the other at Marza Malaz Kempinski The Pearl-Qatar. This is the fourth consecutive year that the company has been arranging summer camps in Qatar.The summer camps have become a big attraction for young children with the organisers offering multiple activities providing both mental exercises and physical education in a way that are fun and exciting for the children. The camps offer both outdoor sport activities and indoor activities that focus on the mental and social aspects of groomign children through a fun-diven programme.The camps that started on June 30 will run until August 15. Kids from 4 years till 14 years can enjoy many activities every day that range from sports, arts and crafts, robotics, lego and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). The camps start every day at 7:30am and end at 2:30pm.The sports include; basketball, football, handball, tennis, badminton, swimming, volleyball, karate, taekwondo and much more activities are a part of the daily programme for the children.The summer camps at Marsa Marza Malaz Kempinski, QSports in association with the hotel is offering the participants a high quality and healthy variety of food menus each day, parents can be sure that their kids will receive fresh and delicious food and will have the privilege to have fun in Kempinski’s own-secluded island.Ana Milena Gomez is head of sports academies at QSports. She is a Columbian national athlete and professional swimmer. She has won many accolades for her country at international stage in swimming.Talking to Community Ana said: “We take children outdoor early in the morning for sports. We select three different sports each day. As in summer, the children remain indoor at their house most of the time; we therefore provide them an opportunity to have some physical activity while indulging in different sports.”She added: “By noon and afternoon, we start our indoor activities. These activities focus on mental and social parts of the overall learning of a child. They learn how to cope with different issue of daily life emotionally. The kids get the chance to meet different other children every day and they learn how to get along with each other. it helps in building of their personality.“The kids are also offered different art and craft activities as well. They are pushed to use their creative force as well. The children are also taught science, math and technology through different fun activities. They learn – for example – how universe works and how a car’s engine moves.”The athlete, who has also got formal degree in physical education, further said: “QSports started as a company seven years ago with the aim of promoting different sports in Qatar. We have as many as 11 professional coaches for different sports. Further, we have qualified physical education teachers to deal with the kid during summer camps and other sports projects. They also know the psychology of children and how to educate them while getting them involved in different sports and physical activities.”Ana, who moved to Doha two years ago and also specialises in zumba dance, added: “We have been running summer camps for four years. We also have been running different sports related activities with different schools in Qatar. So, we have very strong relations and bonding with many children and their parents. They prefer our camps over other activities as we focus on education through fun. Our efforts and activities encourage learning through happiness. We do not set certain goals for the children to achieve. Our activities are not competition but a fun.”
