His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and the President of the United States of America Donald Trump discussed the strong bilateral strategic cooperation between the two countries and ways of promoting and enhancing them in various fields.
The meeting, which was held at the White House Tuesday, also discussed the most important developments regionally and internationally.
At the outset of the meeting, the US President welcomed the Amir, praising the strong and excellent relations between the two friendly countries, and his personal relationship with His Highness the Amir.
The US President underlined that the Amir is a real leader who is highly respected in an important part of the world, hailing Qatar's large investments in the United States and the huge agreements which will be signed later in the day in the fields of trade, investment and defence.
Trump highlighted the role of Al Udeid Air Base and its strategic importance in the Middle East, terming it as one of the biggest military bases in the world.
For his part, the Amir thanked the US President for the hospitality, and affirmed the strength of the relations between the two countries, pointing out to the agreements and memorandums of understanding which will be signed in the framework of the economic partnership between Qatar and the United States.
The Amir noted in his statement the current large investments in the United States, especially in infrastructure. Sheikh Tamim explained that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries now exceeds $185bn, noting the desire to multiply this figure for his confidence in the US economy.

The Amir extended an invitation to the US President to visit Qatar and Al Udeid Air Base.
President Trump thanked the Amir for the invitation, and praised the achievements made by Qatar at Al Udeid Air Base and its important strategic location in the Middle East.
His Highness the Amir and President Trump also witnessed the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between the two countries, at the White House yesterday.
The two leaders witnessed the signing of an agreement between Qatar Petroleum and Chevron Phillips for the development of an international petrochemical complex in the Gulf Coast of the United States, and agreements between Qatar Airways and General Electric (GE) and Boeing for the purchase of five Boeing 777 cargo planes and Gulfstream Aviation.
They also witnessed the signing of an agreement in the field of air defence to provide Qatar with multiple additional systems of air defence.
The signing ceremony was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the Amir. On the US side, it was attended by a number of ministers and senior officials.
