Qatar will participate in the third consultative meeting of the Global Judicial Integrity Network, which will be held from August 28 to 29 in Vienna, Austria.
HE the Chairman of the Supreme Judiciary Council and President of the Court of Cassation Dr Hassan Lahdan Saqr al-Mohannadi heads Qatar's delegation to the meeting.
The meeting will discuss the latest developments related to the Global Judicial Integrity Network work plan between 2018 and 2019, the efforts made by all members of the advisory board to promote and strengthen the work of the network in 2019 and the future opportunities to ensure the sustainability of the network's work, particularly Qatar's initiatives related to the promotion of global judicial integrity.
Also, the participants will discuss the summary of the final information to be presented at the second meeting and the guidelines for the organisation and co-ordination of the work of the advisory board, as well as a report on the achievements of the network since its establishment.
During the second consultative meeting held in Doha last January, the members of the advisory board of the Global Judicial Integrity Network had adopted the proposal of HE the Chairman of the Supreme Judiciary Council to include judicial immunity as a fourth file for the Doha Conference, recognising the view of the Supreme Judiciary Council of the importance of judicial immunity to provide a safeguard for judicial integrity without regard as a privilege per se, considering that one of the means of establishing the judicial integrity is to be immune from malicious lawsuits and defamation campaigns planned by one party or another to influence the impartiality of the judicial decision.
