Four dead in gas plant fire near Mumbai

At least four people were killed in a fire at astate-run oil and gas processing plant in western India on Tuesday,police said.The fire started in a stormwater drain at the Oil and Natural GasCorporation (ONGC) plant in Uran, some 45 kilometres south of Mumbai,police spokesman Pallab Bhattacharya said.The blaze was brought under control within about two hours."Four people have been killed in the accident," an officer manningthe regional police control room said by phone. The victims included an ONGC official and three members of theCentral Industrial Security Force (CISF), the ANI news agencyreported quoting senior police officer Ashok Dudhe.The CISF looks after the plant's security.Three more people were injured but they were not in criticalcondition, Dudhe added.Oil processing at the plant was not affected, the ONGC said onTwitter.The ONGC is India's largest crude oil and natural gas company,contributing around 70 per cent of the country's domestic production.
