Qatar participated in the 29th Ministerial Meeting of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) Agricultural Co-operation Committee in Muscat, Oman, on Thursday.
Qatar's delegation was headed by HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie.
During the meeting, a number of topics related to the fields of agriculture, livestock and fisheries were discussed, including the implementation of the third phase of the joint palm project, the adoption of a number of laws (regulations), the proposal to set up a Gulf bank for plant genetic resources as well as the unified collective purchase of veterinary medicines and vaccines, QNA reported.
The meeting also discussed the unified law for the protection, development and exploitation of the living aquatic wealth of the GCC States and its executive regulations, and the proposal to unify the date of banning shrimp fishing in the GCC States.
Qatar also participated in the 27th meeting of the Undersecretaries of Agriculture Ministries of the Gulf Co-operation Council on Wednesday, with a delegation headed by Assistant Under-Secretary for Agriculture and Fishery Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser al-Thani.
