The education committee of Qatar Chamber has investigated various subjects related to private sector education, including the capacity of schools and school fee procedures, especially for schools that have been operating for many years and enjoy national and international accreditation.It also discussed the short duration of licences renewal, the age of teachers, mechanisms to improve the business environment for private sector education, as well as the committee’s operations and expansion of membership.The topics were discussed at the seventh meeting of the education committee, which was led by Qatar Chamber first vice-chairman and Education Committee chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari.Al-Kuwari praised the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, who declared support for the private sector so that it could perform its role in economic development.He also lauded government efforts to streamline procedures in Qatar’s business environment.Al-Kuwari also praised the co-operation of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the private education sector, saying that businessmen “are looking forward to more legislation and procedures that support these directives”. He stressed that developing private sector education requires the “concerted efforts by all partners to solve all obstacles”, even as he praised the co-ordination of the committee with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education “in examining all issues related to the education sector”.
