Katara organises creative writing workshop for school students

Katara – the Cultural Village is organising a creative writing workshop and competition for students of all English medium schools in the country as part of the Kids’ Festival being held at Katara to mark the Universal Children’s Day.The workshop and competition are open to students between 9 and 12 years-old and each school can nominate two participants, according to Katara in a press statement. Attractive prizes and trophies will be given to the top three winners of the competition, and consolation prizes for the next seven winners and certificates of participation to all participants.The workshop, to be held in four days during weekends starting from December 6, will be conducted by top professionals in the field. “The United Nations Universal Children’s Day is celebrated every year to promote international togetherness and awareness among children worldwide, and to improve children’s welfare. At Katara – the Cultural Village, we undertake a host of programmes to promote the talent and creativity of children and increase their cultural awareness,” said Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti.“The creative writing workshop and contest will provide a golden opportunity for students to hone their creative skills and contribute to the society they are living in,” Dr al-Sulaiti added.Khalid al-Sayed, head of the Programme and manager of Katara Publishing House, said that the creative workshop is a continuation of Katara’s efforts to promote culture and creativity. “The creative workshop will provide a unique opportunity for students for creative improvement and cultural interactions.
