A special gathering, honouring of outstanding staff members and competitions marked the 15th anniversary celebrations of Al-Ahli Hospital.
The celebrations came after the hospital successfully completed 15 years of service and achieved various milestones in terms of quality treatment, infrastructure development and technological excellence. Besides, the hospital has received international accolades through awards and accreditation. The celebrations were attended by Al-Ahli Hospital chief executive officer Khalid al-Emadi, deputy CEO and director of projects Jamal S Hammad and chief of medical staff Dr Abdul Azim Abdul Wahab Hussain, apart from heads of various departments, doctors and other medical staff.
On this occasion, al-Emadi said Al-Ahli Hospital successfully completed its 15-year journey and overcame several challenges in its race towards development. “The hospital has turned to be a distinct medical destination with the highest level of facilities, sophistication and quality services and this has been possible through hard work,” he said, thanking all and directors of the hospital for helping formulate specific goals and strategies over the years.
He noted that the hospital secured several achievements and remarkable development over the last five years and became “the largest private hospital in Qatar”.
Dr Hussain said efforts by the staff and directors helped the hospital – which was started as a clinic – become “the largest private hospital in the country with modern facilities”. “The hospital is equipped with qualified doctors and medical staff, as well as advanced equipment, to treat patients. The clinic, with a small emergency section, has now become a full-fledged hospital with several ICUs and more than 1,400 staff members. In the last five years, the number of staff and buildings has been doubled,” he said.
The hospital has undergone several expansion and development programmes. New emergency facilities for adult and paediatric care will be set up while new units will also be built for physiotherapy, orthopaedic and head & neck. Besides, a new cosmetic department along with a plastic surgery unit will come up at the hospital.
Further, the hospital will get eight more operation theatres with facilities of stomach surgery. It is also looking to increase the staff strength in accordance with the increase in number of patients.
“We have got one branch in Al Wakrah and are now looking to expand our presence towards the north,” Dr Hussain explained, added that the hospital also has plans to draw medical
tourists.
