Mughal-E-Azam: The Grand Musical, staged on December 19 and 20 at the Qatar National Convention Centre was a huge success and a fitting finale to the Qatar-India 2019 Year of Culture, according to a statement from organisers.
Presented by Q-Tickets & Events, the Qatar premiere of Mughal-E-Azam was held under the aegis of Qatar National Tourism Council.
“Mughal-E-Azam is a testament of Q-Tickets founder Dr Tejinder Singh’s advocacy in raising the calibre of highly talented Indian artistes through producing massive cultural events,” it was explained.
Singh, who has made it to the Forbes Middle East’s prestigious list of Top Indian Executives for five consecutive years, and a winner of a Lifetime Achievement Award & CEO of the Year worldwide recognition, now leads the pack in bringing Indian cultural events to Qatar.
Mughal-E-Azam received a standing ovation from an audience comprising people from all over the world both the days in Doha. Directed by the renowned Feroz Abbas Khan, the musical was performed by 125 topnotch talents from India. The elegant costumes were by the avant-garde designer Manish Malhotra.
As director Khan puts it, “A contemporary act in the form of a narrative from the olden days, Mughal-E-Azam gives people a vocabulary of love,” that’s what it does for generations, and what it recently did in Qatar.
