Qatar Chamber and Katara – the Cultural Village signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) Wednesday to boost ties and co-operation in the cultural field.
In a statement, the chamber said the MoU aims to enhance cooperation between both sides in attracting and encouraging commercial companies and institutions in the cultural fields. It also seeks to join hands in advancing the cultural movement in Katara to be a centre and a forum that brings together creative and educated people.
Qatar Chamber director general Saleh bin Hamad al-Sharqi and Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, signed the agreement at Katara.
Al-Sharqi said the MoU affirms the chamber’s interest to provide support for cultural activities by encouraging companies and institutions to support initiatives being held at the Cultural Village.
“We will encourage the private sector to participate in cultural activities and events to increase its interaction in the society and enhance social responsibility of companies,” he said.
Al-Sharqi also lauded the key role played by Katara in promoting Qatar’s culture and heritage, in addition to introducing the various cultures of the world. He noted that Katara is one of the largest multiple cultural dimensions projects in Qatar.
“Katara is a place where the public visit to get acquainted with various cultures of the world, through events, festivals, and exhibitions it hosts at the local, regional, and global levels,” he said.
Al-Sharqi also affirmed the chamber’s keenness in achieving interaction between the private sector and all other activities and events being held in Qatar, “whether economic, cultural, or social to keep pace with strategies of the Qatar National Vision 2030.”
For his part, al-Sulaiti said signing the agreement with the chamber aims to strengthen cooperation in drawing commercial institutions and companies to contribute to supporting events and activities being held at Katara.
He said the cooperation between both organisations would help promote cultural activities and events held at Katara with the aim to develop culture, tourism, and prosperity. Al-Sulaiti affirmed that the MoU “kept pace with Katara’s strategies that seek building fruitful partnerships with various institutions and bodies.”
“There is no doubt that our partnership with Qatar Chamber represents a role model of cooperation between cultural and economic sectors. Since the promotion of cultural activities, events festivals will contribute to enriching the economy, industry, and tourism sectors in the state and provide positive results that benefit the sustainable development and the inclusive renaissance that Qatar witnesses,” he said.
