*Amir holds talks with senior Iranian leaders including Khamenei and Rouhani
*Qatar, Iran agree to enhance trade and tourism exchange


Dialogue is the only way to solve the region's crises and to de-escalate the tension, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani Sunday said.
In a joint press statement after holding talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, the Amir said his visit comes at a sensitive time the region is going through, indicating that it has been agreed with the brothers and with the Iranian president that dialogue is the only solution to the region's crises, and to reducing escalation.
The Amir said his meeting with the president and at the level of two official delegations, was positive and fruitful, as it has dealt with the outstanding relations between the two countries and means to develop them.

The two sides agreed to boost trade and tourism exchange, the Amir said pointing out that Qatar's relation with Iran was historic and has seen great development. "There has always been open channels and discussions with Iran even in the presence of some differences," His Highness the Amir said lauding and appreciating Iran's position after the blockade of Qatar and thanked Iran for providing all the facilities to Qatar and the Qatari people by immediately opening its airspace and seaports.
His Highness the Amir said he had extended an invitation to the Iranian president to visit Qatar, which Rouhani has promised to do sometime soon.
The Iranian President started his statement by expressing his happiness at the Amir's acceptance of the invitation to visit Iran, praising the two countries' ties of neighbourliness and historical friendship.
Rouhani said important decisions came out of the talks with the Amir regarding the expansion of bilateral relations and those existing in the economic and commercial fields, as well as the scientific and cultural fields.
Regarding the joint committee between the two countries, the president stressed that it will be held during the upcoming months, and will be held regularly and annually. He voiced hope that there would be a "second committee for trade and investment cooperation in all sectors, including the technical field and other affairs", in addition to intensifying political visits and exchange of economic delegations between the two countries.
The Iranian president emphasised the importance of the security of the region, especially the security of waterways in the Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman, stressing that the two countries will co-operate to ensure security in these paths.
He thanked the Amir and the delegation accompanying him for the visit, and said it is extremely important for Iran. He hoped the relations between the two countries will expand to achieve the interests of the two nations.

They discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance and develop them to broader levels, especially in the fields of economy, trade, investment and tourism.
Talks during the session also tackled several regional and international issues, especially the latest developments in the region and means for calming the tension and avoiding further escalation and peacefully settling differences in a way that contributes to achieving security, peace and stability in the region and the world.

Amir meets Khamenei

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met Sunday Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei in Tehran.
During the meeting, they reviewed the existing friendship between the two countries in various aspects and ways to develop them.
Also, they discussed several regional and international issues, especially the latest developments in the region and means for calming and maintaining regional and global security and stability.
Members of the delegation accompanying the Amir and senior Iranian officials attended the meeting.

The Amir was accorded an official reception at the Republican Palace in Tehran. Rouhani led well-wishers to welcome the Amir.

The Amir also attended a luncheon banquet hosted by President Rouhani at the Republican Palace. Iranian ministers and senior officials attended the banquet.
Earlier upon his arrival at Mehrabad International Airport on an official visit to Iran, the Amir was welcomed by Iran's Minister of Energy Reza Ardakanian, Qatar's ambassador to Iran Mohamed bin Hamad al-Hajri and Iran's ambassador to Qatar Mohamed Ali Sobhani, in addition to a lineup of senior Iranian officials and members of the Qatari Embassy in Tehran. They also saw him off upon his departure at Mehrabad International Airport.
The Amir was accompanied by an official delegation.
