Doha and other places in the country experienced a dusty evening yesterday even as cold conditions prevailed around the country and the temperature dropped to 6C in Abu Samra.
Today’s forecast says strong winds are expected in some places, while similar conditions are also likely in offshore areas along with high seas until noon, according to the Qatar Met department.
Visibility dropped sharply in some places last evening as dust blanketed areas around the country, accompanied by strong winds. The weather office advised people to take the necessary safety and health precautions in view of the prevailing conditions.
The Met department said the dust would dissipate gradually by midnight, leading to an improvement in visibility. Later, the department tweeted that rain was being reported from some places as the dusty spell ended.
Meanwhile, today’s detailed forecast states that moderate temperatures will prevail during the day and there will be scattered clouds and a chance of rain in some places in the early hours. It will be cold night.
Clouds are also likely in offshore areas and there is a possibility of scattered rain at first, along with slight dust at times.
The wind speed may go up to 25 knots inshore and 35 knots offshore today, with the sea level rising to 6ft by the afternoon.
A minimum temperature of 6C was recorded yesterday in Abu Samra, followed by 8C in Mesaieed, Mukaynis, Turayna, Karana and Ghuwairiyah, 9C in Al Khor and Jumayliyah, 10C in Mesaimeer, the Qatar University area, Wakrah, Dukhan and Shehaimiya, 11C in the Hamad International Airport area and Umm Bab, 12C in Ruwais and 13C in Doha (airport area). The maximum, on the other hand, ranged from 19C to 22C around the country, with Doha recording a high of 21C.
Today, the minimum temperature is expected to be 9C in Abu Samra, 11C in Wakrah and Mesaieed, 12C in Al Khor, 14C in Doha and Dukhan, and 15C in Ruwais. The maximum will range from 20C to 22C today.
