Baladna Food Industries (BFI), Qatar’s largest producer of fresh dairy and beverages, and a subsidiary of Baladna, will be the Diamond Sponsor of the upcoming ‘Made in Qatar 2020’ exhibition slated from February 19 to 22 at the Kuwait International Fair.
Board member and managing director of Baladna, Ramez al-Khayyat, said: “We take pride in sponsoring the ‘Made in Qatar’ exhibition in Kuwait. The company’s sponsorship comes as part of our objective of helping Qatar achieve the economic diversification and goals of the Qatar’s National Food Security Programme.
“The exhibition represents a communication platform to introduce our products to the Kuwaiti market while holding strategic conversations with Kuwaiti decision-makers during the four days of the exhibition. We are always looking for opportunities to expand our footprint and utilise untapped markets.”
The latest edition of ‘Made in Qatar’ is the third time Qatar Chamber is holding the event outside Qatar, and it is expected to gather more than 220 companies and factories from the country on a 10,000sq m exhibition area.
The expo is organised by the Qatar Chamber, in co-operation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Qatar Development Bank (QDB) as strategic partner, and in co-ordination with the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
‘Made in Qatar’ aims at fostering co-operation and exchanging expertise between Qatari and Kuwaiti companies, in addition to informing the Kuwaiti business community on Qatar’s products and opening new markets for both large and small Qatari companies.
Established in 2014, BFI has grown to be Qatar’s largest locally-owned fresh dairy and beverage supplier and has helped Qatar achieve 95% self-sufficiency in fresh milk. BFI has invested in bringing in the best breed of Holstein cows, famously known for the quality of milk they produce. The farms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology spans over 40 hectares of land, and is home to nearly 20,000 Holstein cows.
BFI’s factory enjoys distinctive features, such as an area of 200,000sq m, five silos – each storing 100 tonnes of fresh milk, 48 unloading bays, and three loading bays for raw milk to be transported to the factory.
The factory's fully-automated machines are operated by 140 employees, who were trained to use new generation machines imported from the UK, Europe, Turkey, and Lebanon.
BFI’s fast-growing product line comprises 176 products, which include laban, labneh, ayran, cheese, ghee, oriental sweets, 100% natural juices, long-life milk, and long-life juice.
To diversify its products, BFI has begun manufacturing high-quality organic fertilisers in an environmentally-friendly manner. The new venture will boost Qatar’s agricultural capacity with organic fertiliser production of up to 40,000 tonnes a year with an aim to cover 40% of Qatar’s needs.
