The city of Lusail is nearing completion, as about 95% of the city's infrastructure has been completed , it was announced on Tuesday.

Parts of the city have opened already and witnessed a population presence in areas like Jabal Thuaileb, the official Qatar News Agency (QNA), quoting a senior Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment and Development Company (Qatari Diar) official, said.

Lusail City is considered the largest project of Qatari Diar. It is more than just a real estate project, it is a comprehensively planned city, and it reflects the progress made by Qatar. The city is spread over 38,000,000 square meters.

CEO of Qatari Diar Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah stated in press statements on the sidelines of a Tarsheed festival at Kahramaa Awareness Park that work is currently underway to complete the remaining preparations for hosting the 2022 World Cup, the most prominent of which is the opening of the commercial street and the areas of tourist attractions and vital sites, in addition to the final aesthetic touches. The city will host the Lusail Stadium, which is scheduled to host the opening and final matches of the FIFA World Cup.

He said with the establishment of the Lusail project, which is considered one of the largest smart cities in the world, the company has relied on rationalisation systems, energy efficiency and reduced consumption of resources. Cooperation with the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) comes within the framework of the company's keenness to implement the best standards.

Al-Attiyah emphasised that the principle of central rationalisation and refrigeration was taken into consideration starting with the design, and this was taken into account in the lighting, water and electricity systems at the city level, adding that the city of Lusail implemented all smart systems in the preservation of the environment, to achieve the principle of sustainability and conservation of natural resources.

The city currently has two fuel stations, and it is expected that two branches of Al Meera Consumer Goods Company will be opened in the next year, in addition to establishing a mosque in the Marina Lusail area. All services provided to the population and the public will be in accordance with the highest international quality standards.

Qatari Diar Real Estate Company was established in 2005 by the Qatar Investment Authority. Qatari Diar was entrusted with supporting Qatar's growing economy and to coordinate the country's real estate development priorities.

In 2018 Qatari Diar has a shared capital of $8bn, with 60 investment projects under development or held in 24 countries around the world, combining a value of over $35bn.
