The Qatar Rail has announced a pricing change for limited use paper tickets of Doha Metro, according to a tweet on Thursday.
As per the revised pricing, standard class passengers will have to pay QR3 for single journey ticket and QR9 for day pass while the new price for gold class Single journey ticket is QR15 and QR45 for day pass. The price for Standard and Gold smart cards will remain unchanged. The change will come into effect from Friday (February 21).
The change, according to the tweet is aimed at minimising the usage and the environmental impact of disposable paper tickets. The price was QR2 for both single journey paper ticket and smart card in standard class while it was QR6 for paper ticket day pass and smart card day pass.

Doha Metro has three lines with an approximate overall length of 76km and 37 stations.
