Ethiopia is encouraging Qatari investors to explore the country’s investment opportunities in the fields of agriculture, hospitality, tourism, real estate, industry, and energy, Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mesganu Arega has said.Arega made the statement during a meeting with Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani, including other members of the chamber’s board of directors, in Doha recently.The meeting discussed ways to enhance economic co-operation between Qatar and Ethiopia. It also reviewed the investment opportunities available in both countries and ways to encourage Qatari investors to invest in Ethiopia.Both officials discussed the possibility of holding a joint business forum that would bring together Qatari businessmen and their counterparts from Ethiopia to explore areas of co-operation and partnerships in various sectors.Speaking at the meeting, Arega praised the distinguished relations between Qatar and Ethiopia, as well as Qatar’s successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.He noted that Ethiopia is working on various legislations to attract more investments into the country. He said Ethiopia is offering a host of incentives and tax exemptions aimed at enhancing the investment climate, ease of doing business, capital transfer, and attracting foreign investors.During the meeting, Sheikh Khalifa lauded the close relations between both countries, stressing that Qatari investors are keen to learn about the opportunities galore in Ethiopia.Sheikh Khalifa also underscored the chamber’s interest to encourage Qatari businessmen to enhance co-operation with their Ethiopian counterparts and learn more about the opportunities available in the country.
