The last weekend witnessed a number of events organised for children and families across the country by Qatar Charity (QC) as part of the ongoing ‘Sham Deserves’ campaign to educate people on the plight of Syrian displaced persons and refugees, and raise funds to help them.
Within the framework of the campaign being implemented by QC, in partnership with Qatar Media Corporation (QMC), the activities took place over three days - from last Thursday to Saturday - at Doha Festival City, and on Friday and Saturday at Old Souq Al Wakra, Katara - the Cultural Village and Al Khor Park.
Children participating in the events took a picture with a model of a happy child wearing a coat with the logo of Qatar Charity, which expressed the delight of the child at having the feeling of warmth. The children, along with their families, wrote letters in solidarity with the refugee children.
There were also many drawing and colouring activities related to refugees and their needs, in addition to different types of games.
Besides, many people and children belonging to the Syrian community delivered speeches and poems to urge people to support refugees and the displaced.
Several fine artists also took part in the events to deliver the message, to participants, on the current situation of refugees and the displaced through their drawings.
