The Department of Religious Call and Guidance at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs honoured the winners of the first Holy Qur’an competition for students of Qur’an centres for 2019 and the sixth cultural excellence competition.
In the first year of Holy Qur’an competition, the department honoured 40 winners, with 10 students in each of its four branches memorising 25, 20, 15, and 10 parts.
Also, 40 directors of Holy Qur’an learning centres were honoured with the highest scores achieved by the students of their participating centres with a total prize money worth QR152,000.
The Department of Religious Call and Guidance has also honoured the winners of the sixth excellence competition, including 100 students from all centres, as well as 15 centre directors whose students obtained the highest grades in memorisation with total prizes of QR100,000.
Director of the Department of Religious Call and Guidance Malallah al-Jaber confirmed that both competitions were held at all the memorisation centres across the country, where 299 students belonging to 101 centres participated in Holy Qur’an competition, while 202 students from 101 centres in cultural excellence competition.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs does not regard Holy Qur’an learning centres as a place for memorisation only, but also as educational incubators in which the student learns the Qur’an, Hadith and Shariah sciences, in addition to providing educational and advocacy lessons while motivating them to attend these lessons in the centres with various rewards.
