The Indian CBSE board examinations for Grades X and XII will continue as per schedule, according to some of the Indian schools in Qatar.
Birla Public School (BPS) said yesterday the CBSE board examinations for Grades X and XII will take place "as normal, as per schedule" though the school will be closed from today until further notice, based on yesterday's directive from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
There will be no school transportation and parents are required to drop their children directly to the examination centre (MES Indian School, Doha) and pick them up from the same place after the examination, according to a press statement by BPS.
"In the interest of your child’s health, please do not use shared services. It is best if the parents can take care their child using their own vehicle," BPS added.
For Grades KG to VIII, all remaining school-based exams are hereby cancelled, the statement adds.
The students’ average marks of previous terms will be considered for record purpose and they will be promoted to the next grade.
In respect of Grade IX students, promotions will be made to the next grade based on their previous term exam marks.
However, those students in Grade IX who are not meeting the passing mark criteria will have to appear for exams after the school reopens.
Birla Public School is also set to start the first virtual classrooms from Grade 6 during the closure period.
On its website, DPS-MIS said the school will remain closed from today for all students, from Grades KG1 to XII, until further notification.
Board examinations for Grades X and XII "will be held as per the scheduled dates and there will be no change in the same", the school stressed.
The examination scheduled on March 11 for Grades V to VIII stands postponed until a further update, it added.
Similarly, Ideal Indian School said the school will remain closed from today until further orders due to the coronavirus outbreak.
All school-based examinations are postponed and new date(s) for the same will be intimated in due course, the school said in a notification on its website.
However, the CBSE examinations will be conducted as per schedule.
Transport will be provided to the students who are appearing for the board examinations, Ideal Indian School added.
Shantiniketan Indian School, too, said the CBSE board exams for Grades X and XII will continue as per schedule though the school will remain closed from today until further notice in view of the government directive.
"Parents will be updated as and when we get further information from the ministry," the school said on its website.
Bhavan's Public School also said there is no change in the CBSE examination schedule.
