Katara announces registration opening for 9th Senyar Festival

The Cultural Village Foundation — Katara announced the opening of registration for the 9th edition of the Senyar Festival's pearl diving and fishing contests. Registration will remain open until April 13, with the festival to be held from May 2-5.The Senyar Festival organising committee set out the conditions for registration including: having a wooden boat (traditional or modern dhow) equipped with navigation systems and safety facilities with a valid licence, while every team should consist of 8-12 participants.Participants must be Qatari nationals with four participants per team permitted to be from different nationalities: two participants from other Gulf Co-operation Council countries, whilst the other two being residents of Qatar.Team name registration will be on a first-come first-serve basis, and all participants must submit a medical examination certificate.Organising the Senyar Festival is part of Katara's efforts to revive and preserve the Qatari cultural maritime heritage.(QNA)
