Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) has launched an awareness campaign with the participation of entities across all its sectors - digital, audio and visual, and conducted in various languages, to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

In line with its endeavours to contribute to the national and governmental efforts and achieve the goals of the authorities concerned in combating the spread of Covid-19, and based on its social responsibility, QMC has launched the campaign on social media to educate residents of different nationalities about the risks of the coronavirus and the necessary precautions.

The campaign has been organised with the participation of various media outlets, including leading local radio stations such as Radio Suno and Radio Olive (Hindi, Malayalam and Sinhala), FM 107 Qatar (Urdu and Hindi) and Radio Qabayan 94.3 (Filipino), in addition to 'Chandrika' newspaper (Malayalam).

The awareness campaign aims to contribute to reducing the spread of Covid-19 by producing videos in different languages to be published on the most popular social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. This will support QMC’s goal to reach the largest possible number of targeted groups.

The videos will focus on the most important information, such as the need to maintain personal hygiene including household cleanliness, the difference between isolation and quarantine, things to do at home such as exercise, and ensuring food hygiene.

Qatar Media Corporation stressed that this initiative will help reach the largest number of community members coming from several countries, who are not familiar with Arabic or English, thus raising their level of awareness to take the necessary health measures and prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
