Qatar Chamber has launched ‘Takatuf’, an initiative that urges its members, as well as public and private joint-stock companies and businessmen to support the country’s efforts to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
In a statement, the chamber said the move was decided Monday during a meeting of its Emergency Committee, which also reviewed mechanisms to implement the Takatuf initiative.
“The initiative aims to mitigate the economic impacts of the precautionary measures taken by the country by providing in-kind support as a contribution to provide governmental needs required for these measures.
“The initiative aims to help and support small companies affected by such measures and other repercussions, in cooperation with the relevant government bodies. This step comes in view of the Chamber’s national duty, its social responsibility, and its role in serving the Qatari private sector,” the statement said, adding that companies willing to participate in the initiative could fill out an online form at the chamber’s website.
Through this initiative, the chamber is “a mediator and link” between the supporting companies and beneficiaries. The initiative also aims to enhance inter-private sector support, whereas large companies and entrepreneurs are encouraged to provide support to small businesses and companies, whose owners are facing issues, such as rental costs and other challenges.
