MoEHE honors winners of 'My Disability is the Secret of My Talent' competition

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) honored on Thursday the talented students who won in the fifth edition of the 'My Disability is the Secret of My Talent' competition, which was organised under the title 'My Environment is My Responsibility' to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the environment.During the honouring ceremony, and in the presence of Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at MoEHE Maha Al Ruwaili, and Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Affairs at MoEHE Omar Al Nama, HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi distributed certificates to the 26 winners, male and female students, in all branches, stages and levels of the competition, such as the Holy Quran, the short story, recitation, rhetoric, and artistic creativity, as well as honoring judges in these fields.In this context, Acting Director of the Special Education and Gifted Care Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Fatima Al Saadi, stressed the Ministry's keenness to provide equal opportunities for students with disabilities in order to highlight their various talents and creativity, in line with the Ministry's vision of pioneering the provision of permanent and innovative learning opportunities of high quality.In her speech during the honoring ceremony, she said that he Ministry of Education and Higher Education provided, during the previous years, many educational services and programs in government schools for students with disabilities, which made a quantum leap in educational services that are now comparable in quality to various nations of the world at the regional and international levels.Al Saadi added that the 'My Disability is the Secret of My Talent' competition was launched for the first time during the year 2018/2019 as a trial version that proved successful with students talents in the fields of: writing short stories, memorizing the Quran, recitation, rhetoric and artistic creativity, noting that this competition is launched annually to celebrate people with disabilities and to recognize their role and contributions to society.She pointed out that this edition of the competition witnessed the addition of a new field in artistic creativity, which is the field of handicrafts, during which many distinguished participations emerged from students, especially students of vocational tracks in secondary schools.The 'My Disability is the Secret of My Talent' competition targets all students with motor, hearing, intellectual and visual disabilities, those with autism, and those who have talent in any field at all levels of education in schools and educational and rehabilitation centers for students with disabilities in government schools.
