The increasing number of newly confirmed Covid-19 cases in Qatar should not be a reason for worry and anxiety, Dr Suhaila Ghuloum, senior consultant psychiatrist at Hamad Medical Corporation, said.
"People should view the increase in new cases of Covid-19 positively as it also highlights the strength of the health system in Qatar and the commitment of the entities concerned to take quick and effective care," she told Qatar TV Friday.
"Social proximity among certain categories in the society is a reason for more cases and the country deals with such information with transparency.
"To avoid creating unreasonable and unjustified fears and worries, people rely only on authentic sources and should not check for updates more than twice daily.
"Listening to rumours and circulating them would only create more psychiatric troubles. While physical proximity is not recommended, people have many online ways of communication for their social needs.
"It is a new situation and people should cope with it while abiding by the precautionary and preventive measures set by the government for their wellbeing," Dr Ghuloum added.
