Qatar Charity (QC) has announced the launch of its QR119mn Ramadan campaign, expected to reach about 2.4mn people in Qatar and 30 other countries, under the slogan "With Good Reassure".
Given the prevailing circumstances caused by the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, QC will ensure public safety and take precautionary measures during the campaign.
From this standpoint, Iftar meals inside and outside Qatar will be provided through the distribution of food baskets and specially designated vehicles.
Also, the Qatar e-Charity website and application and other various digital tools will enable donors to pay their zakat and charity easily online.
The Ramadan campaign comprise three main seasonal projects: Iftar food baskets and meals, the distribution of zakat al-Fitr, and Eid clothes. It will also include special assistance to combat Covid-19 inside and outside Qatar.
The Ramadan campaign comes within the framework of the directions and vision of Qatar to support efforts to confront the Covid-19 pandemic, and alleviate the suffering of those affected, in co-ordination with the relevant government and local authorities.
Information programmes produced by Qatar Charity and broadcast in co-operation with the Qatari media through their social media accounts, and remotely implemented volunteering projects and awareness activities are also part of the Ramadan Campaign.
On this occasion, Mohamed Rashid al-Kaabi, assistant chief executive officer of QC Communications Development Sector, praised the support received for the previous Ramadan campaigns and urged support for the current campaign so as to reach the 2,380,928 beneficiaries inside and outside Qatar, at total cost of QR 119,170,178.
The Ramadan projects inside Qatar target 420,900 people, at a total cost of QR 34,029,352, the official explained.
QC will also launch a link to assist those in need and provide food baskets in co-operation with Al Meera Consumer Goods Company. Announcements in this regard is to be made on social media in order to inform the beneficiaries from various sections of the society.
The Ramadan campaign will be implemented through QC's field offices and local partners, stated Faisal Rashid al-Fahaideh, assistant chief executive for International Operations and Partnerships.
It will distribute relief food aid in areas of disasters and crises, which will be of help to the displaced and refugees, and special aid to help alleviate the suffering of those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, he added.
