The enrollment to the new Lusail University will be launched on June 30 and classes commence in September, according to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education undersecretary and Lusail University board of trustees member Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh al-Nuaimi.

Responding to the higher education requirements of Qatar, Lusail University was inaugurated on Wednesday at Lusail City.
The first private national university has Qatar's Attorney General HE Dr Ali bin Fetais al-Marri as the chairman of the board of trustees.
Lusail University focuses on the human development pillar, an integral component of the Qatar National Vision 2030, a press conference telecast on Qatar TV was told.
Ministry of Education and Higher Education undersecretary and Lusail University board of trustees member Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh al-Nuaimi, Lusail University director Dr Mahmoud Khalid al-Misafar, and assistant dean of students affairs Fatma al-Musleh were present on the occasion.
"Lusail University is an excellent addition to the private university education in the country, with outcomes that support the national needs of the local labour market," Dr al-Nuaimi said.
He said the experience of the blockade against Qatar, which has started on June 5, 2017, and the current epidemic of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) has posed many restrictions on the ability of students to move around the world, which makes the new university a very convenient option for the students of all nationalities living in Qatar.
Besides being a homegrown institution, Lusail University has active links with University of Hassan II Casablanca in Morocco, besides scheduled programmes and links with the Jordanian University, Sussex University UK and the Sorbonne University, France.
"However, the newly launched university would maintain its local style with international approach," Dr al-Nuaimi added.
Dr al-Misafar explained that Lusail University will start its operations in the academic year 2020- 2021 in five programmes: law, marketing and distribution, gas and oil management, teaching English and French Literature, in co-operation with the University of Hassan II Casablanca in Morocco.
The languages of study are Arabic, English and French. After four years of study a graduate student will get a degree from both the University of Hassan II Casablanca in Morocco and Lusail University, approved by Qatar Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
The professors at Lusail University are both Qataris and non-Qataris and most of them have already started work. The university would be ready to start the education process in September 2020 either physically inside its buildings or remotely through e-learning in case the Covid-19 crisis continues.
Dr al-Misafar also stressed that Lusail University will give substantial grants to students with excellent marks at the general secondary school level or similar graduates.
"There will be a 50% discount of the fees for those having a score of 95% and above, 40% for those with 90-95% score. As for the students with special needs, they can enjoy 60% discount on the fees and in case they scored 80% marks in the first three years at the university, they would enjoy the fourth year free of charge," he explained.
The new university has a 11,000sq m campus with 52 study halls, a major theatre hall, celebration halls, library, big canteen, adequate parking lots and is just three to four minutes’ walk from the metro station.
