Qatar Foundation’s (QF) website has claimed a prestigious online accolade by being named an Official Honouree in the 24th Annual Webby Awards, which honour excellence on the internet.

The achievements means www.qf.org.qa is ranked among the best websites in the world for the user experience it offers, having competed against the sites of renowned global brands such as Apple and BMW.

The Webby Awards are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, which nominates and selects winners and is comprised of internet industry experts including Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom and Mitchell Baker, chairwoman and CEO of Mozilla. Less than 15% of entries to the awards are named Official Honourees.

“This accolade is a testament to the creativity, imagination, and knowledge of what audiences want from their digital experience that has been central to the evolution of QF’s website, the new look for which was unveiled in March 2019,” said Ali Sikandar, manager of Digital and Social Media, QF.

“Our focus has been – and continues to be – on providing a truly immersive, experiential, and user-friendly digital journey that showcases QF’s efforts, achievements, people, and message to the world, and sparks engagement with our organisation. When users enter www.qf.org.qa, they can feel they are truly stepping inside QF, finding both information and inspiration,” Sikandar said.

“We are delighted and honoured that this approach has been recognied at the highest level of the global internet industry, reflecting the tremendous work that has gone into creating a website that encourages visitors to explore, discover, and engage with QF, and to feel they are truly part of our mission and our story,” Sikandar said.

Through its content, design, and user experience, QF’s website demonstrates how the organisation’s work directly benefits people in Qatar and beyond, and encourages participation in its events and activities. It uses state-of-the-art design concepts, videography and animation, and a human-focused storytelling approach that mirror QF’s commitment to innovation, interaction, fostering dialogue, and building human capacity.

“Honourees like QF are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the internet,” said Claire Graves, executive director of the Webby Awards. “It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the 13,000 entries we received this year.”
