Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has received a donation of QR500,000 from Qatar Charity (QC) to support the former’s coronavirus control campaign, as part of the government's efforts to fight the virus, protect the community against infection and treat the patients at hospitals and quarantine facilities.
The handover of the cheque was attended by Mohamed Rashid al-Kaabi, assistant CEO for Communication and Resource Mobilisation at QC, and Abdullah Sultan al-Qatan, executive director of Medical Affairs at QRCS.
This funding "contributes to QRCS’s ongoing services designed to reduce the spread of the virus, driven by a spirit of solidarity between NGOs and the Government of Qatar in such an emergency", a press statement notes.
“This support embodies co-operation between QC and QRCS in the global mainstream of fighting this pandemic,” said al-Kaabi. “Since the crisis broke out, we have been at the forefront of extending support to all the government bodies and NGOs. Let’s pray for an end of the pandemic. May Allah protect Qatar and its people."
Al-Qatan appreciated the support from QC, which reflected their belief in the common humanitarian values and goals. It built upon a long legacy of working together on numerous operations for the vulnerable locally and internationally, he added.
He stressed the importance of concerted efforts from everyone to complement the heroic endeavors of the country to get out of this
serious emergency".
“There are women and men making considerable sacrifices and working hard for us to be safe at our homes,” he said. “They deserve every form of support from us, by donating to the anti-coronavirus initiatives and following the instructions of the government to avoid causes of infection."
