The second repatriation flight from Qatar carrying stranded Indians was cancelled yesterday due to “technical reasons”, the Indian embassy said.
The Doha-Thiruvananthapuram flight is now “being scheduled” for tomorrow, the embassy has informed through a tweet.
“Unfortunately, IX-374 scheduled for today (May 10) from Doha to Thiruvananthapuram was cancelled for technical reasons. “Being rescheduled for May 12, 2020,” the embassy tweeted yesterday.
It added, “Passengers already booked for the flight to reconfirm tomorrow (May 11). Those with exit permit issues will not be cleared for boarding.”
On Saturday, the first repatriation flight carrying 178 passengers left for Kochi.
This is part of the Indian government’s Vande Bharat mission to take Indians stranded around the world due to Covid-19 restrictions back home. The 178 passengers were shortlisted from about 44,000 community members who had registered with the Indian embassy to avail of the facility.
Indian ambassador P Kumaran had said they were hoping to have “4-5 flights” in the next stage of the repatriation mission from Qatar, travelling to more Indian destinations.
