Qatar has strongly condemned and denounced the retired Major General Khalifa Haftar militia's shelling of Mitiga airport in the Libyan capital; deliberate attacks on civilian individuals and facilities, bombing of diplomatic headquarters, and sabotaging civilian aircraft.
In a statement Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that such irresponsible acts are an indication of the militias' thoughtlessness to the lives of civilians and they have disregarded the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan.
Qatar affirms that the immediate cessation of aggression against civilian targets and the city of Tripoli as well as the return to the political track are the most effective way to stop the tragedy of the brotherly Libyan people, the statement added.
The statement reiterated Qatar's call to the international community and main actors in the Libyan scene to assume their historical responsibility and deter the militias of retired General Haftar from tampering with the lives of Libyans and prolonging the conflict.
