MoECC officials check 2,202 chemical shipments to ensure regulations are met

Inspectors from the Department of Chemicals and Hazardous Waste at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) have checked and monitored multiple shipments of chemicals at various checkpoints and ports in order to ensure these meet environmental requirements.The authorities concerned, according to an official MoECC press statement, hhave taken the necessary measures in accordance with the regulations and legislation in force in Qatar. The steps are initiated to make sure that the regulations and technical requirements for the circulation and import of chemicals and hazardous waste in the country are followed.In May, the ministry inspected a total of 2,202 imported shipments. These included 915 shipments at Hamad Port, 914 that came as air freight, 365 at the Abu Samra border crossing, five at Ruwais Port and three at Mesaieed Port. The officials checked whether the shipments meet the mandated standards.The department officials work at all ports and checkpoints in the country to ensure that the importers of hazardous chemicals comply with local environmental requirements.
