QU’s emergent materials journal celebrates its impact factors

Qatar University (QU)’s 'Emergent Materials Journal' has announced its first-ever Impact Factor of 3.8, marking a remarkable achievement.With a 5-year Impact Factor of 3.7, 'Emergent Materials Journal' demonstrates its consistent excellence and growing reputation in the scientific community.The Impact Factor is a widely recognised metric that measures a journal's influence and importance by considering the average number of citations received per article published over a specific period.Achieving a notable Impact Factor of 3.8 reflects the high quality and significance of the research published in 'Emergent Materials Journal', solidifying its position as a leading publication in the materials science field.Under the leadership of QU vice-president for Research and Graduate Studies Prof Mariam al-Maadeed, 'Emergent Materials Journal' has expanded its reach and fostered an inclusive environment for groundbreaking research from around the world.The journal's commitment to publishing innovative and impactful materials science research has garnered increasing recognition, culminating in the impressive Impact Factors achieved within a relatively short period.From its establishment in 2018 until the end of 2022, the journal was under the editorship of Prof Karim al-Amgir, director of the Materials Programme and Dow Chair Professor in the University of Houston’s Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.With over 30 years of research experience and numerous accolades, including being a Fellow of the American Physical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Prof al-Amgir played a pivotal role in steering the journal towards excellence.Under his guidance, 'Emergent Materials Journal' published over 300 papers, including review articles and edited book chapters.In 2022 Prof Mohamed Mehdi Chehimi took the helm as editor-in-chief of 'Emergent Materials Journal'.Prof Chehimi, a senior research director at the French CNRS, brings a wealth of expertise to the role.He is a leading authority in the materials science field and has edited five books and six themed issues, further highlighting his dedication to advancing scientific knowledge.Prof al-Maadeed, the founder of the journal, said: "We take immense pride in the journal's accomplishments and acknowledge the exceptional contributions of our national and international editorial team, the diligent reviewers, and the talented authors who have played a vital role in the success of 'Emergent Materials Journal'.”"We look forward to continuing our collaboration with all of you as we strive to elevate the journal to even greater heights of excellence,” she added.
