Qatar's ambassador: Turkish president's visit will open new horizons for strategic partnership

Qatar's ambassador to Turkiye HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Nasser bin Jassim al-Thani affirmed that the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Qatar will open new horizons for strategic partnership in a way that achieves the mutual interests of the two countries.In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the ambassador said that President Erdogan's visit is part of his first overseas tour after winning a new presidential term, which reflects a strong will and mutual aspiration to develop bilateral co-operation, open new horizons for strategic partnership between the two countries, and enhance co-ordination on regional and international issues.His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and President Erdogan will discuss during their meeting the bilateral relations and areas of co-operation between the two countries, particularly in the economic and investment sectors, in addition to issues and topics of mutual interest to the two brotherly countries, the ambassador noted.He said that Qatar and Turkiye are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year, which have steadily evolved and grown at a consistent and increasing pace. These relations have encompassed co-operation in various fields, including political, economic, security, and other areas, he noted, adding that there has been coordination to address regional and international challenges.The Qatari-Turkish relations have witnessed continuous growth over the past years and have continued to prosper — transforming into deep-rooted and strong ties between both sides, which has been reflected in the diverse fields of cooperation, as well as the close co-ordination in multiple areas and at various levels, the ambassador said.These relations have solidified and reached high levels of excellence at both the official and popular levels, which provides a solid foundation for safeguarding and enhancing the achieved gains, as well as pushing forward with cooperation and partnership to broader and more comprehensive levels, he added.He also addressed trade exchanges between the two countries, indicating that Turkiye has become one of the most important trading partners for Qatar, with the trade volume exceeding $2bn last year.He emphasised the continuous efforts to enhance co-operation and create new opportunities in this field, as well as other sectors.
