Over the past three years, under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the people of Qatar are united in solidarity and have overcome many difficulties and challenges.
We have seen Qatar’s success in safeguarding its national sovereignty, independence and dignity, as well as maintaining social stability, economic development, and people’s well-being. Qatar is now making great strides toward economic diversification and the historical goal of National Vision 2030.
The relationship between China and Qatar, and between China and the Arab World has a long history. At present, the Covid-19 pandemic poses common challenges for both China and our Arab friends. As a community of shared destiny, we are ready to help our brothers to overcome the difficulties as soon as possible. As Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said, China is not a saviour, but we try to be a friend in need, a sincere partner you can count on.
China will never forget that, when we were in the most difficult time fighting Covid-19, it is Qatar who lent us a hand. With the pandemic affecting Qatar, we feel for our Qatari brothers, and will always stand with Qatar to overcome difficulties together. We will continue to share professional expertise with our Qatari friends, to provide our latest experience in prevention and and treatment.
China will to continue to provide fast channels for Qatar to purchase and import of medical supplies from China, especially raw materials to produce medical equipment such as masks, in order to support Qatar to improve production capacity of medical supplies. We will also step up joint prevention and control activities with Qatari friends, to strengthen information sharing as well as co-operation in the field of health, quarantine, transportation and immigration, and strive to turn health co-operation into a new highlight for China-Qatar relations.
We are confident that under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, China and Qatar will eventually defeat the virus together, co-operation between our two sides will soon return to fast track, and our joint work will build a community of shared future for health security between China and Qatar.
