* Displaying green status a must to be allowed entry into many banks and hypermarkets
* Many have already started implementing the new measure, others to do so from Sunday

More and more entities in the country are making it mandatory for clients and visitors to show the green status on the Ehteraz application to be allowed entry into their premises.
After hypermarkets and retail outlets made announcements in this regard, a number of banks too have put in place similar measures, it is learnt.
In line with a Cabinet decision, all citizens and residents of Qatar have to mandatorily instal and activate the Ehteraz app on their smartphones when leaving the house for any reason.
This rule came into effect on May 22.

Accordingly, and with a number of commercial and service activities resuming following their closure/suspension due to the Covid-19 restrictions, it is now becoming mandatory to show the green (healthy) status on the app to enter many public places in the country.
While some have announced that they will start implementing the rule in the coming days, many have already put in place such a measure.
In an announcement on Twitter, QNB said: "For your safety, please download
the Ehteraz app on your mobile and show us the green code when entering our branches, following Qatar's preventative instructions."
Similarly, Commercial Bank said it would put in place such a measure from June 7.
"For your safety and ours, we would like to inform you that effective Sunday, 7th June, 2020, you will be requested to show your green healthy status on Ehteraz app on your mobile phone prior to allowing you to enter CB branches and collection centres," it tweeted.
Barwa Bank, too, announced a similar measure from June 7.
"As an extension of the precautionary measures and for your safety, we would like to inform you that effective Sunday, 7th June, 2020, you will be requested to show your healthy green status on your Ehteraz app to be able to enter Barwa Bank branches and premises," it tweeted.
Qatar Islamic Bank also issued a notice on Twitter, saying: "According to the country's precautionary measures taken to ensure your safety, please note that customers must instal the Ehteraz app to enter a branch. The green code on the app, which mentions the healthy status of the customer, also will be verified before entering the branch."
As reported in Gulf Times earlier, hypermarkets and retail chains have also made Ehteraz, with a green status, mandatory for customers.
In a post on Facebook, LuLu Hypermarket said "as per instructions from the government authorities in light of the pandemic, and according to the precautionary measures we have taken to ensure a safer shopping experience, it is compulsory to activate the Ehteraz application before entering any LuLu Qatar branch. Let’s abide by every measure to ensure everyone's safety!"
Customers without the app will not be allowed to enter any of its branches, LuLu said, adding that the green code will be verified before a customer enters a store.
Similarly, Safari Hypermarket has announced that the "Ehteraz app with green health status is mandatory for entering all Safari outlets". The decision has been taken "for everyone's safety".
Saudia Group has also introduced a similar measure. "You are kindly requested to show your green healthy status on the Ehteraz app before entering our branches," it said on Facebook.
Recently, Al Meera Consumer Goods Co announced that customers would be requested to show the Ehteraz app on their smartphone, and only those with the green code, which indicates a healthy status, would be allowed entry.
Monoprix Qatar made a similar announcement on Facebook. "As per government guidance, it is mandatory for all customers to show their Ehteraz green tag before entering the store,” it said, stressing this is for the safety of all customers and the Monoprix Qatar team.
Carrefour Qatar, too, said: “The health and safety of our colleagues and customers is our number one priority. As per the government guidance, it is mandatory to activate (the) Ehteraz app before entering the store.”
Family Food Centre, too, has introduced a similar measure. "Your safety is a priority. Thanks for co-operating with ministry guidelines to ensure a safe shopping environment for everyone," reads a notice outside one of its outlets in Doha.
Besides hypermarkets and banks, offices have also started implementing this measure as a precautionary measure, according to sources.
"As we move towards a new normal where we have to live with the virus, it is very important that people continue to follow preventive measures," said Dr Abdullatif al-Khal, chair of the National Strategic Group on Covid-19 and head of the Infectious Diseases Division at Hamad Medical Corporation, during a televised interview on Thursday.
The Ehteraz app will help with the gradual lifting of restrictions as it adds another layer of protection for the community as a whole, Dr al-Khal stressed. "It is a good example of how technology is proving to be valuable in combating the virus and facilitating a return towards normal life."
