The Umm Slal Municipality's Health Control Department, carried out 866 inspection tours at various food establishments within its jurisdiction during May.

The drive, according to a statement by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), resulted in closing two shops for seven days and correcting 20 violations.

The department received 14 complaints which were dealt immediately.

The drives also included checking slaughterhouses.

As many as 7,721 animal carcasses were checked and 21 were found unsuitable for human consumption and subsequently destroyed.
