Qatar Charity (QC) has received a donation of QR125,000 from LuLu Hypermarket Qatar as a contribution to its projects through the 'Shop & Donate' drive launched by the latter during the holy month of Ramadan. This donation comes in support of Qatar Charity’s Ramadan campaign for this year, as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of LuLu, according to a statement issued Wednesday.
Mohamed Rashid al-Kaabi, assistant CEO for the Communication and Resource Development Sector of QC, received a cheque worth QR125,000 from Shanavas Padiyath, regional Manager of LuLu Hypermarket Qatar, in the presence of other officials from LuLu and QC. On receiving the donation, al-Kaabi thanked LuLu Hypermarket Qatar for its contribution, which came at a time when the whole world is facing a serious threat to humanity due to the Covid-19 outbreak, appreciating LuLu’s effort during Ramadan in collecting donations through its 'Shop & Donate' drive.
“Qatar Charity is always keen to co-operate with various public and private sector institutions to reach out to the largest number of beneficiaries in Qatar and across the world," added al-Kaabi, urging other companies and institutions to follow the example of LuLu Hypermarket to help Qatar Charity continue to carry out humanitarian activities across the globe.
Al-Kaabi valued LuLu’s support for QC’s Ramadan campaign, noting that LuLu’s support was a “sincere demonstration of how to promote humanitarian activism, which positively reflects the company’s success in various fields.”
“In co-operation with Qatar Charity, LuLu is looking forward to playing an important role in the social responsibility programme,” said Shanavas, adding that the 'Shop & Donate' campaign managed to successfully raise QR125,000 during this challenging period.
He also emphasised that LuLu Hypermarket would continue its support for charitable projects and carry on promoting humanitarian work along with Qatar Charity.
Last year, QC received a donation of QR250,000 from LuLu Hypermarket Qatar as part of its ‘Shop & Donate’ drive during Ramadan.
QC has previously signed a number of co-operation agreements with LuLu Hypermarket Qatar. The first agreement allows customers to donate riyal and dirham fractions when paying purchase bills at various LuLu Hypermarket outlets, to support charitable projects within and outside Qatar.
The second agreement promotes QC’s Khair Cards through LuLu outlets to promote charity among shoppers, while the third agreement involves a co-operation for the ‘Shop & Donate’ campaign.
